Free Pattern: Junior Jibblies

I'm always finding scraps of yarn in my Wall-Of-Wool, and I never quite know what to do with them. I could make a Mini Octopus or an Ami Balloon, but I have so many of them at this point I wanted to make something different. So I made up these little guys!

My idea when designing them was to not only make a mini monster that was a great stash buster project, but was also fully customisable in terms of facial expression and decoration; including hair and eyes. Junior Jibblies can be angry, sad, happy, love struck - anything you desire! Plus, measuring only 3 inches tall  they are of course a great stash buster.

In my version of the little monsters below, I made their hair out of Pom Poms. These can be made using a lot of different methods, including using a pom pom maker. If you don't have a pom pom maker though, don't fret! I made a dedicated tutorial for you to make them using only yarn and your hands. You can find it here

And as the name suggests, these little monsters as made to be the youngsters of the family. I intend to make a bigger, more complex version soon that I will have available in my Etsy Pattern Shop. Coming Soon!

So here they are - the little guys of the family - the Junior Jubblies!

*Special thanks to sarahsthreads on Ravelry for making me aware of the typos - Round 19 of the Head/Body is now correct, and I have added a note about stuffing the feet :) Thanks Sarah!*

. Pattern is written in American Terms
. The number at the end of each round is the number of stitches you should now have
. I strongly recommend using a small hook i.e.- 3.5mm (E), to keep the proportions of the toy as they are in the pictures

. Take the 2 Back Feet, stuff, and sew behind the 2 Front Feet, slightly to the side of the Head/Body, so they are sticking out a little to the sides
. Make a Pom Pom using White and Contrasting Colour, and sew to the Head/Body. Experiment with different arrangements and numbers of Pom Poms for different looks!
. Take White yarn, and embroider on 'toe nails' on the Back and Front Feet. I made 3 'nails' on each foot.
. Take your Eye buttons and sew to front of Head/Body. I used a mixture of staggered sized black and white buttons to make a big, wide eyes look; and also some hearts for a Loved Up Jibbly :)
. Take any decorative buttons you have and sew to Head/Body.
. Embroider on any facial features you desire to the Head/Body using either black embroidery thread or a scrap of black yarn.

And You're Done!

I really hope you enjoyed making your Junior Jibblies!!

Chica, Version 1.2

Hey all!

I hope everyone had a nice New Year and that 2015 is going well for you so far! I have been busy working on my new workspace (pics to come) and a few custom orders have come my way too, so I've been quite busy :)

You may remember in this blog post from November I made a Chica from Five Night's at Freddy's amigurumi. I was pretty happy with her, but wondered if I could improve her in any way, so I designed a newer version...

I like this version as she is free standing and more posable than the original...

...who is stuck in a sitting position.  I'm not sure which one I ultimately prefer - I will make a few more characters in both styles and see which one is better across the board :)

I hope to update more regularly this year - I checked my stats page a little while ago and was shocked I still get so many visitors, even though I don't post anywhere near as frequently as I used to. I really appreciate your continued support, and have pledged to be more active on my blog and Facebook Fan Page too, with updates, how to's and more free patterns. I hope when I am back in the swing of things I can do another giveaway as well - the last ones I did were so much fun!

Anyways, bye for now - and take care!

Chica and a Knobbly Jellyfish

Hey! Thought I'd update with some bits I've been making lately on the amigurumi front :)

Has anyone played Five Nights At Freddy's? If you have, you should have a pretty good idea who this little guy is. But if not, Five Nights At Freddy's is a very popular game that's exploded onto the gaming scene over the past few months. It's basically about you playing as a security guard at a kids pizza chain restaurant, and things go, well, a little bit wrong with the animatronic characters after hours.

Although I haven't actually played the game myself, I love watching others play it on YouTube, especially Markiplier - he's so funny and always seems so enthusiastic about what he is doing. You can check his channel and the game itself out here.

Anyways, I thought I'd make a little Chibi Chica the other night, and this was the result...

She's a lot less scary than the original lol! I think with a little tweaking I may type up the pattern and make it available in my Etsy Shop, we will see :)

Also I have been working on a revamp of Jacob The Jellyfish; here he is half finished...

As you can see, I've added some puff stitches to the head/body piece, to make a knobbly effect; and also some gathered rows of lace trim for extra fluffiness. For the tentacles I will be adding some clear pony beads, so it looks like bubbles.

I'm always looking for new ways to update old patterns of mine - so instead of rewriting them completely I have been trying to add some other materials and elements to the design, to give people more of a challenge/something other to do apart from crochet the entire piece. I hope to have the pattern available by the end of the year, along with some other revamped favourites :)

That's all for now! Take care, and Happy Crocheting!

Etsy Shop Update

At the weekend I (finally!) listed some revamped patterns for some of my most popular ami's!

I'm happy to welcome back...

Jacob The Jellyfish
Stuart The Uniloomph

Apple and Cosy

All patterns listed above have had a PDF revamp and new model aim's made for the photos, though the patterns themselves haven't been altered. Just thought I'd mention this incase you already have these patterns and thought I had rewritten them :)

I hope to have some more favourites back soon, and some rewrites too :)

Granny Squares and Updates

I made this mini cotton Granny Square cushion cover  back in December, thought I'd share :) I enjoyed using cotton, for a change, though I don't know if I will be using it for amigurumi as it isn't stretchy :( It's perfect for Granny Squares though!

Also I am still working on the new amigurumi patterns. I am going to get them all completed, then list the whole lot at the same time rather than list one at a time. I will keep you updated - thank you for your patience!

Have a fun weekend!

Morris Mouth

I have a new ami to introduce to you, he's name is Morris Mouth!

Isn't he fun?!! He came into being back in February when I got an email from the lovely Mika, who was an Etsy customer of mine. She said she had some designs and generously said I could use them to base some ami's around. Here is her concept sketch...

The major problem I had with him was the mouth. It dips in in the middle, so I needed to make a kind of oval bowl. It was one of the most complicated patterns I've written, but I think he was worth it :) I also added a top hat and a cane lol!

Here's a picture of me holding him, for scale...

This version of Morris went to live with Mika. For her contributions I am sending her the ami's made from the patterns. So that means there will be more to come!! At the moment I am mega busy with crafting for a craft and vintage fair I have coming up in May (did I tell you about that?!) so I don't have alot of time to write patterns at the moment. But when I get a break I will be working on..... lets just say it's a twist on an existing animal :)

I hope you like Morris Mouth! I will be putting the pattern for him up in my Etsy shop some time this month, he will be $3/£1.88 :D

Oh, and my Blythe doll arrived this week!! I called her Zoe, and will be posting pictures of her soon :)

Free Ami Pattern Of The Week! (FAPW)

I thought I'd do a new feature on my blog, so I'm not always talking about myself lol! So once a week I'm going to feature my favourite free amigurumi pattern that's available online :)

This week, seen as I'm in a monster mood - is my favourite free Monster pattern - The Beholder!

Now, I've never played D&D, but apparently this little guy is from that game. I love the fact he has so many eyes, and eyes on stalks for that matter! I'm tempted to make a bright pink one!

Get the pattern for free here!

Also available on Ravelry.

Monsties Tutorial

I've been asked by a few people about how exactly you make the legs of my Monsties pattern . I looked over the pattern and realised it's not that clear to understand, so I've made a little tutorial to show you. I hope it helps!

This is the Monstie up to and including row 15. At this point - if using safety eyes - you need to attach them. I use the end of row 15 as a centre point to position them.

After attaching the eyes, start row 16. SC 15....

... and then join with a Slst to the beginning of the row.

This completes row 16, and seperates the legs (:b)

This is the 1st leg after row 17...

... and this is the 1st leg completed.

Next, start leg 2 by attaching yarn with a Slst to any where on the leg (the space where you're gonna crochet the leg). This is going back to row 17 in the pattern.

Continue to row 19 and finish off. Your Monstie should now look like this...

All you need to do now is stuff the Monstie, crochet the bottom of the feet and sew them on...

... and glue/stitch on the mouth, add hair and you're done!

I hope that helped a bit; if you still have any questions just comment below and I'll get back to you asap :D

Thankies, and enjoy your Monsties!
