Free Pattern: Chica the Chicken

Thought I’d share a free pattern with you this week - first time in a while!

I have recently become obsessed with the game Five Nights At Freddy’s - it’s a horror game based on a family pizzeria called Freddy Fazbears Pizza, and is plagued by a team of possessed animatronic characters.

Chibi Chica
One of the characters is Chica, the chicken. I was really inspired to make an amigurumi Chica whilst watching Let’s Play’s of the game, so came up with my own Chibi version of her. I thought it would be nice to share the pattern so other fans could make their own, so here it is :)

For this pattern you will need a 3.25mm hook, DK/Light WW/Sport yarn in yellow and orange. I also used 10mm safety eyes, black yarn for eyebrows, white felt and pink embroidery floss. For added spookiness I used black pastels to shade around her eyes.

Stitches needed:

Sc - Single Crochet
Inc - Sc Increase
Dec - Sc Decrease
Bob - Bobble Stitch - YO, insert hook in next st, YO, pull up a loop, (YO, insert hook in same st, YO, pull up a loop) 3 more times, YO, and draw through all loops on hook

I hope you enjoy the pattern!

Chicas Bib

Chica’s Bib

In the Five Nights At Freddy’s games, Chica is wearing a bib that says ‘Let’s Eat!!!’ I made her bib from a scrap of white craft felt. I cut the bib and ties out from a rectangular piece, kind of like this…

Chicas Bib

I then embroidered the words onto the front with pink embroidery floss.

Sew the bib in place with some white sewing thread :)

You’re Done!!

I hope you enjoyed making your very own Chica! As with all my patterns, please feel free to share/sell anything you make, but please do not sell the pattern itself :)

Happy Crocheting! :D

Pom Pom Tutorial

After posting a picture of this guy on DA the other day...

... I've been asked how I make the pom poms. Here's how!

***

There are many different ways to make Pom Poms; some involve wrapping yarn around 2 discs of card, some use a special pom pom maker, and this is the way I make them:

Wrap yarn around your fingers about 30 times

With a longer length of the same colour yarn (I'm using a different colour here so you can see what I'm doing), thread it between your fingers. Wrap it around the yarn and tie a double knot

Remove the bundle of yarn from your fingers and snip the loops to form a pom pom. And that's it!

Sew Pom Pom to project with what’s left of the long piece of yarn

Pom Poms can be made bigger or smaller by adding or taking away the number of fingers you wrap the yarn around, and also how many times you wrap it round too - for example - wrapping yarn around your fingers 60 times will make a fuller pom pom than doing it only 20 :)

I hope that was useful!

Monsties Tutorial

I've been asked by a few people about how exactly you make the legs of my Monsties pattern . I looked over the pattern and realised it's not that clear to understand, so I've made a little tutorial to show you. I hope it helps!

This is the Monstie up to and including row 15. At this point - if using safety eyes - you need to attach them. I use the end of row 15 as a centre point to position them.

After attaching the eyes, start row 16. SC 15....

... and then join with a Slst to the beginning of the row.

This completes row 16, and seperates the legs (:b)

This is the 1st leg after row 17...

... and this is the 1st leg completed.

Next, start leg 2 by attaching yarn with a Slst to any where on the leg (the space where you're gonna crochet the leg). This is going back to row 17 in the pattern.

Continue to row 19 and finish off. Your Monstie should now look like this...

All you need to do now is stuff the Monstie, crochet the bottom of the feet and sew them on...

... and glue/stitch on the mouth, add hair and you're done!

I hope that helped a bit; if you still have any questions just comment below and I'll get back to you asap :D

Thankies, and enjoy your Monsties!
