Free Pattern: Chica the Chicken

Thought I’d share a free pattern with you this week - first time in a while!

I have recently become obsessed with the game Five Nights At Freddy’s - it’s a horror game based on a family pizzeria called Freddy Fazbears Pizza, and is plagued by a team of possessed animatronic characters.

Chibi Chica
One of the characters is Chica, the chicken. I was really inspired to make an amigurumi Chica whilst watching Let’s Play’s of the game, so came up with my own Chibi version of her. I thought it would be nice to share the pattern so other fans could make their own, so here it is :)

For this pattern you will need a 3.25mm hook, DK/Light WW/Sport yarn in yellow and orange. I also used 10mm safety eyes, black yarn for eyebrows, white felt and pink embroidery floss. For added spookiness I used black pastels to shade around her eyes.

Stitches needed:

Sc - Single Crochet
Inc - Sc Increase
Dec - Sc Decrease
Bob - Bobble Stitch - YO, insert hook in next st, YO, pull up a loop, (YO, insert hook in same st, YO, pull up a loop) 3 more times, YO, and draw through all loops on hook

I hope you enjoy the pattern!

Chicas Bib

Chica’s Bib

In the Five Nights At Freddy’s games, Chica is wearing a bib that says ‘Let’s Eat!!!’ I made her bib from a scrap of white craft felt. I cut the bib and ties out from a rectangular piece, kind of like this…

Chicas Bib

I then embroidered the words onto the front with pink embroidery floss.

Sew the bib in place with some white sewing thread :)

You’re Done!!

I hope you enjoyed making your very own Chica! As with all my patterns, please feel free to share/sell anything you make, but please do not sell the pattern itself :)

Happy Crocheting! :D

Chica, Version 1.2

Hey all!

I hope everyone had a nice New Year and that 2015 is going well for you so far! I have been busy working on my new workspace (pics to come) and a few custom orders have come my way too, so I've been quite busy :)

You may remember in this blog post from November I made a Chica from Five Night's at Freddy's amigurumi. I was pretty happy with her, but wondered if I could improve her in any way, so I designed a newer version...

I like this version as she is free standing and more posable than the original...

...who is stuck in a sitting position.  I'm not sure which one I ultimately prefer - I will make a few more characters in both styles and see which one is better across the board :)

I hope to update more regularly this year - I checked my stats page a little while ago and was shocked I still get so many visitors, even though I don't post anywhere near as frequently as I used to. I really appreciate your continued support, and have pledged to be more active on my blog and Facebook Fan Page too, with updates, how to's and more free patterns. I hope when I am back in the swing of things I can do another giveaway as well - the last ones I did were so much fun!

Anyways, bye for now - and take care!

Chica and a Knobbly Jellyfish

Hey! Thought I'd update with some bits I've been making lately on the amigurumi front :)

Has anyone played Five Nights At Freddy's? If you have, you should have a pretty good idea who this little guy is. But if not, Five Nights At Freddy's is a very popular game that's exploded onto the gaming scene over the past few months. It's basically about you playing as a security guard at a kids pizza chain restaurant, and things go, well, a little bit wrong with the animatronic characters after hours.

Although I haven't actually played the game myself, I love watching others play it on YouTube, especially Markiplier - he's so funny and always seems so enthusiastic about what he is doing. You can check his channel and the game itself out here.

Anyways, I thought I'd make a little Chibi Chica the other night, and this was the result...

She's a lot less scary than the original lol! I think with a little tweaking I may type up the pattern and make it available in my Etsy Shop, we will see :)

Also I have been working on a revamp of Jacob The Jellyfish; here he is half finished...

As you can see, I've added some puff stitches to the head/body piece, to make a knobbly effect; and also some gathered rows of lace trim for extra fluffiness. For the tentacles I will be adding some clear pony beads, so it looks like bubbles.

I'm always looking for new ways to update old patterns of mine - so instead of rewriting them completely I have been trying to add some other materials and elements to the design, to give people more of a challenge/something other to do apart from crochet the entire piece. I hope to have the pattern available by the end of the year, along with some other revamped favourites :)

That's all for now! Take care, and Happy Crocheting!
