Reasons To Visit Japan Pt 6: Tokyu Hands

Shibuya Tokyu Hands, originally uploaded by Andrew Currie.

I MUST visit this shop when I go! Tokyu Hands is part of the Tokyu shopping chain, and sells tons of craft, do-it-yourself, stationary and hobby products. It's like a massive Hobbycraft! Yay!

There are loads of Tokyu Hands shops in Japan, but the one pictured is in Shibuya, the popular shopping and entertainment area in Tokyo. The shop spans 8 floors! 8 floors of crafts! Woohoo! I think I'd be in there all day.

Reasons to Visit Japan Pt 5: Disneyland

Another place I'd love to visit when I go to Japan is the Disneyland and DisneySea resorts in Tokyo.

I always wanted to go to a Disneyland when I was little, so if I visit Tokyo I reckon it would be great to go! And located just 15 minutes away by train from central Tokyo - both resorts are easily accessible.

There are 7 themed areas in Disneyland itself, including Critter Country, Tomorrowland and World Bazzar. There is even a Cirque Du Soleil Theatre! In DisneySea there are themed ports intead of areas/lands, which include Mermaid Lagoon, Lost River Delta and Port Discovery.

I'd love to visit - I think you'd probably have to spend a whole day there though as it looks like a massive place!

Reasons To Visit Japan Pt 4: Harajuku Girls

Harajuku Up & Close, originally uploaded by ajpscs.

Thought I'd bring back 'Reasons To Visit Japan', as I'm still saving to go!

One of the sights I'd love to see when I visit Japan are the Harajuku girls of Tokyo. I LOVE their style - it's so fun and cute! The epicentre of this teen culture is Takeshita Street and it's surrounding side streets, which are crammed with trendy clothes shops and boutiques, fast food outlets and crepe stands.

Visit Harajuku on a Sunday and you'll find many of them standing around Harajuku train station in their 'cosplay' gear. Cosplay is short for "costume play", and involves teens dressing up in various costume to represent a specific character, mainly from anime, manga, movies and video games.

I love the freedom these teens have - you could never dress like that in England and not be verbally abused and laughed at. So when I visit Japan I'm gonna go to Harajuku on a Sunday and see them for myself!

I'm very tempted by Inchies, and these lovely examples by Phizzychick make me want to try them even more! An Inchie is basically just a square of cardboard that's 1'' by 1'', and you just draw/paint/whatever on it to make mini pieces of art. I just wish I could draw lol!

And Just Because....

I was looking around online the other week to try and find something I can do with my hair as it's getting a bit long and boring, and I came across this photo! Look at this girls hair, I think it's brilliant! I'm a massive fan of bright hair - I've dyed my hair every colour (except blond), the best being bright (and I mean BRIGHT) red afew years back. I'd love to dye my hair again, but I bet this type of colour job is a bugger to look after! Imagine all them colours running together?!
