Friends, Old And New

Currently Listening To: Nothing/ Drinking: Water/ Feeling: Lucky!

Here's a picture of Zoe with a few friends that I took just before the Southend Craft & Vintage Fair. I thought it was too cute not to photograph!! Most of this lot don't live with me anymore, but I am very happy they found loving new homes :) You can see more photos of Zoe and her adventures in my Flickr Photostream.

In other news, I am so lucky, I just managed to get 2 tickets to see The Darkness' London comeback gig at Shepherds Bush next month!

Weeee!! Like I've mentioned before, I'm a massive TD fan, and was over the moon to hear they were reforming. They were the first band I ever saw live, and I have many fond memories of them. It's gonna be HUGE! :D

Rainy London and An Etsy Feature

Currently: Listening To: The Trooper - Iron Maiden / Drinking: Coke Zero / Making: Arms and Legs

One of my crochet patterns has been featured in an Etsy Treasury today! Entitled Apple Jackets; it features, well, Apples in jackets lol! Check it out here - they're all so cute!

Big Thanks to Kristen for including me in your fab treasury! Check out Kristen's fab blog here too! :D

Also today I went on a little day trip on my own to London. What with this trainee dental nurse job I have coming up in June I figured I'd better get used to travelling to and around London on my own.

I was a bit nervous about going - you know, when you don't have to do something you don't really want to do it? Well it was abit like that. But I did go! I went to Tower Bridge to get some tacky tourist postcards. Then travelled on the Tube to Embankment to my favourite sushi shop, Wasabi. I also visited Trafalar Square and Piccadilly Circus on my way through to Chinatown to pick up some wasabi peas lol! Oh, and I bought 30 postcards in Paperchase. They were 60p each :(

It of course started raining, when I was in Chinatown. My umbrella failed me spectacularly, so I had to walk back through to Embankment station in the pouring rain wearing my thin MCR hoodie. I wasn't happy!! But over all it was a good trip. Next time I think I'm gonna go up to Camden Market. Wish there were some good yarn shops in London. Anyone know of any?

London With Gus

On Saturday I went on a day trip to London with my Mum and my Little Visitor,
Gus The Turkey.

Here are some pictures from our day :)

The gateway station from South Essex into London is Fenchurch Street Station, which is opposite The Tower Of London and Tower Bridge. So that's where we went first.

We stopped off at a tacky London gift shop, where we met an interesting character advertising the London Dungeons...

We then took the short walk round to Tower Hill Underground Station.

By this time it was about 12pm, so we stopped off at Embankment Station to visit my favourite sushi place, Wasabi, where I spent £12 on sushi lol! I got Gus a seaweed onigiri. We stopped off at the nearby park for lunch.

We wanted to go to Chinatown, so instead of getting the Underground we decided to walk. On the way we passed Trafalgar Square...

... the National Gallery...

... the Odeon on Leicester Square...

... until we finally got to Chinatown. I've never been to Chinatown before (how long have I lived here?!) so it was nice to look round somewhere new.

After getting lost and finding some FAB shops along the way, we headed to Bethnal Green for the Bust magazine's summer Craftacular.

It's a big craft event set in York Hall. It was great looking round at all the different crafts :)

We headed home after that. It was one of the hottest days of the year that day; must've been in the 30's. The trains were N.A.S.T.Y. but it was a great day anyway!

Day 09 - A Photo You Took.

This is a picture I too last year as part of the Little Visitor Swap Round 10 on Craftster.org.

The Little Visitor staying with me for the summer was Walter, the rainbow dinoaur. I took him to many places, including on a day trip to London to see the sights. This is Walter infront of Big Ben.

I took lots of pictures of Walter through-out his stay, and kept a blog of his adventures. You can view it here.

Shopping and Crocheting

Didn't do Etsy Friday yesterday I was out. I went on a shopping trip with my brother to London - in particular Camden and Oxford Street.

We go up there about twice a year to have a look round and stock up on cool clothes lol. We went out at about 9:30am and came back at around 5:30pm, it was a long day! I ended up spending around £110 in Camden :o lol. I got some great stuff though, and my parents got me alot of it for Christmas and my birthday so it wasn't too bad!

I bought a Japanese anime t-shirt; a sock monster, bead necklaces, kawaii stuff from a super cute Japanese shop like a folder, notebook, toadstool plushie and a pencil; a hoodie, some earrings for my Mum and lots of other stuff I can't remember. Oh, and this silver ring...

I didn't spend a penny on Oxford Street! Wow! My brother did though, he spent a small fortune in Topman lol

At one point on the Underground we were approached by a drugs dog and 2 policemen lol! Nothing to worry about, as we obviously didn't have any drugs (accept 2 painkillers...) but it was un-nerving anyway!

In the evening I made myself feel sick by eating stodgy bread. Stupid thing to do, I was up all night, and I know have a big headache. Why do I do these silly things?!

On the crochet front, I've done the head, body, bow and an arm of my version of the Knitted Character! Here's his little face...

All I've got to do now is the other arm, legs and ears then he'll be finished! My Mum didn't win the proper Knitted Character from off the telly, so she can have this one when I'm finished :)

That's about it. Nothing much planned for the weekend, my Nan's round today and I think there's 2 lots of football (soccor to my American friends...) on this weekend, including my team Leeds United in the FA Cup, Yay! I'm gonna continue with the Knitted Character and whatnot. 1 week to go till Brentwood! :b

Grinding Halt

It's funny, for a country world famous for being cold, wet and rainy, us here in England can't even cope with a bit of snow.

Yeah, apparently it's the worst snow in 18 years, but to tell you the truth it doesn't seem like it. I've known worst! Here it's not even covering my shoes! Yet the country is in complete chaos; the schools are still shut, transport's going mad, people not going into work... I could go on!

I heard earlier on the news that other countries news programmes have been taking the micky out of us, saying 'Britain's come to a hault over 6'' of snow'. It's not even 6'' lol!! I'd be laughing at us too! In fact I am - this happens every time it snows, no matter how bad. Or not so bad, as the case seems...
