I've always wanted to try needle felting, so the other week I bought myself a starter kit from Ebay...
Yay! You get 50g of GB wool tops, 3 needles in different sizes, a foam block, handle and instructions. I played about for a little while, after watching some videos on trusty old YouTube, and after half an hour or so (and an aching arm!) I got this; my first needle felted thing!
Lol! Not too sure what it is - just a blob with a face really! I've made a little man since, but he hasn't got a face yet (I need more colours of wool). I'll show you when he's finished :)
I think I'm going to buy more wool and keep at it. It's not easy getting the shape you want (the face above was ment to be a ball...) but, like with crochetng, I'm sure over time I'll improve :)
Needle felting is so much fun! You should sign up at http://learnneedlefelting.com/ for the free online classes so you can make a pumpkin and a blob monster!
ReplyDeleteOooo Thank you for the link!! I will check that out! :D
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to try needle felting for awhile now. I'm a bit too busy with baby and crochet, but I'd love to watch you. Make sure to post lots of progress pics =)
ReplyDeleteWill do Crystal! :D
ReplyDeleteI make amigurumi too along with 50 million other things lol but even though I know how and have everything under the sun for it I haven't done mush with needle felting, I do however make needle felted shaps with mini cookie cutters and sometimes use them as embelishment on the amigurumi. So I have a massive colection of mini cookie cutters. It's a though plas gives you an outline and a shape to aim for instead of just a blob even though I like your blob nothing wrong with it quite a nice blob in fact maybe you should name it bob ^_~ LOL
