Knitted Character Pattern!

*PATTERN UPDATED: NOW INCLUDES EARS LOL!*

Last night I couldn't sleep (again..) so I did some serious crocheting and got my Knitted Character finished! Here he is!

Yay! I'm really happy with the way he turned out, and my Mum loved him! So I've typed up the pattern to share on here. Please don't sell this pattern or sell anything made from it as the character is probably copyrighted. Also I must say that this isn't an exact match for the real Knitted Character, there are little differences so I'm not totally copying the original, which you can find at Cloth Ears. I just made this pattern up for crocheters that would like to make their own :)

This pattern hasn't been tested, so of you find any mistakes please let me know and I'll correct it. Thankies!

Harry Hill’s Knitted Character

You Will Need:
Crochet Hook (I used 3.75mm, US size F)
Double Knit/Worsted Weight Yarn In White and Pink
Stitch Markers Or Piece Of Scrap Yarn
Yarn/Embroidery Needle
Embroidery Thread
Poly-fil Or Other Stuffing
Curved Needle (Optional)

Abbreviations
Ch - Chain Stitch
Sc - Single Crochet
St/Sts - Stitch/Stitches
Slst - Slip Stitch
Inc (Increase) - 2 Sc into 1 Sts
Dec (Decrease) - 1 Sc over 2 Sts
** - Marks a group of stitches to be repeated until the round if completed

Other Info
. As this is amigurumi, work in a continuous spiral. Don’t join at the end of a row; just keep going
. Use stitch markers or a piece of scrap yarn to mark the start of every round. Replace at the start of the next round as you go along. This will help you keep track of where you started, and saves a lot of time if things go wrong!
. Although I am English, I write my patterns in American terms, so Sc means Single Crochet; Dc means Double Crochet ect.
. The number at the end of each round is the number of stitches you should now have.

Shopping and Crocheting

Didn't do Etsy Friday yesterday I was out. I went on a shopping trip with my brother to London - in particular Camden and Oxford Street.

We go up there about twice a year to have a look round and stock up on cool clothes lol. We went out at about 9:30am and came back at around 5:30pm, it was a long day! I ended up spending around £110 in Camden :o lol. I got some great stuff though, and my parents got me alot of it for Christmas and my birthday so it wasn't too bad!

I bought a Japanese anime t-shirt; a sock monster, bead necklaces, kawaii stuff from a super cute Japanese shop like a folder, notebook, toadstool plushie and a pencil; a hoodie, some earrings for my Mum and lots of other stuff I can't remember. Oh, and this silver ring...

I didn't spend a penny on Oxford Street! Wow! My brother did though, he spent a small fortune in Topman lol

At one point on the Underground we were approached by a drugs dog and 2 policemen lol! Nothing to worry about, as we obviously didn't have any drugs (accept 2 painkillers...) but it was un-nerving anyway!

In the evening I made myself feel sick by eating stodgy bread. Stupid thing to do, I was up all night, and I know have a big headache. Why do I do these silly things?!

On the crochet front, I've done the head, body, bow and an arm of my version of the Knitted Character! Here's his little face...

All I've got to do now is the other arm, legs and ears then he'll be finished! My Mum didn't win the proper Knitted Character from off the telly, so she can have this one when I'm finished :)

That's about it. Nothing much planned for the weekend, my Nan's round today and I think there's 2 lots of football (soccor to my American friends...) on this weekend, including my team Leeds United in the FA Cup, Yay! I'm gonna continue with the Knitted Character and whatnot. 1 week to go till Brentwood! :b

A New Challenge!

I've found something else to occupy my time. I'm gonna attempt to make the Knitted Character from Harry Hill's TV Burp!

I don't know if everyone will be familiar with Harry Hill and the programme; it's a British show that's on Saturday nights which basically takes the micky out of other TV shows. It's very funny!

In the show they have a competition where you have to spot this 'knitted character' in another TV show that's aired during the week. If you win the competition you win your own knitted character! So you know what I'm on about, here's a video...

Cute, isn't it! My Mum spotted him the other day on BBC1 and entered. Hope she wins! But if she doesn't I said I'd attempt to make her one for Christmas. I've looked round the internet and can't find a single pattern, so I'll make up my own.

Of course I'll have to crochet it as I can't knit. And to tell you the truth, it looks like it's crocheted anyway! Look...

So that's my aim before Christmas, to make my own. If I do I'll put the pattern up on my blog for free so everyone can make one. Yay!

Wish me luck...

Glad That's Over!

No Etsy Friday this week, instead..

I'm back from the 'craft fair'! It went ok for a first go, though it wasn't really a craft fair. It was more of a shopping evening, as I was one of about only 3 stalls that had handmade items.

I turned up at about 6pm armed with my army of ami's, and set up the stall. As it was in a nursery the tables were tiny so I had 2. Here's me *waves* sat behind my ami table, crocheting to keep myself amused lol!

Here's my second table, with bits like stress balls, flowers, keyrings, scarves and magnets. And Pet Rocks. I had loads of Pet Rocks lol! Check out that tiny chair in the background! They're toddler chairs! I had to sit on that for hours!

I felt really exposed sitting behind my tables. I'm very judgemental about my stuff and felt like people were, well, judging me lol! I didn't like it atall and wanted to go home, but I stuck it out and stayed.

Here's a pink Monstie guarding my money, and the square I was crocheting for the Knit-A-Square charity.

I took my Mum along for help and support, and about an hour in my Dad, Nan, Auntie and Uncle turned up. Also at the event was an old friend from school; she had a stall selling jewellery and cards. I really liked her stuff, especially the bracelets. I haven't seen her since leaving school in 2001 so it was nice to catch up.

Here's me hiding from my Mum. I hate having my photo taken lol

All in all it was a good experience. There weren't many people there to be honest, but I made a profit so it wasn't all bad! Now I have the big one at Brentwood coming up. That IS gonna be busy!

1st Craft Fair Nerves...

I've got my first ever craft fair coming up in about and hour and a half! I'm so nervous

It's at Laindon Nursery, and I was asked to do it. Which was nice, and being in a nursery I'm hoping the ami's will go down well with the kids.

My biggest fear is that people will just walk straight past my stall and no one will buy anything lol. I'd be so embarrassed! Well actually I know I'll be selling at least one thing - my Nan and Auntie are coming along and my Auntie said she wants to buy a flower badge. Yay! I said she didn't have to pay for it but she insisted lol

But in a way i'm glad I'm doing this fair before the big one in Brentwood on 6th December. That one's gonna be MASSIVE! It gets thousands of visitors in just the one day, and it's advertised in the newspaper and everything. If that had been my first ever fair I would've been even more nervous lol

Anyways, better be getting ready. I have all my stuff packed up and sorted, I just need to have my T then get changed.

Wish me luck!

Amazing Amigurumi!

I was looking through Flickr today, searching for inspiration for some amis and I found these AMAZING amis by Kasetomomaru!

Aren't they great?! So original and colourful! I wish I could come up with amigurumi like this!

At the moment there are around 32 of these amis in Kasetomomaru's account, each one is fab! I wish they sold the patterns, I'd so buy them!

I have a bit of a creative block at the moment. I've been crocheting my fingers off lately to get stuff made up for the craft fairs I have coming up (my first one's on Thursday!). I've just been following my own patterns from my Etsy shop and not really had the time to come up with any new designs. I love looking through Flickr and DA as there are so many great amis on there it really inspires me. I don't copy them, I wouldn't do that, it just gets the creative side of my brain working again.

So yeah, I saw these and thought they were fab! Enjoy!

Etsy Friday

This weeks Etsy Friday theme - Teddy Bears!

I really like this fused glass pendant by MakenaLeiCreations! Made with light weight glass, it measures approx. 1 1/8'' by 1 1/2''. I'd love to try fused glass myself, but wouldn't know where to start. Seems very complicated!

I had to include an amigurumi teddy lol! There's so many cute ami teddys on Etsy, it was hard to choose just one! Good Weekend/Bad Weekend

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

On Saturday my Nan came round, which is always nice. I did alot of crocheting that evening for the craft stall on the 19th - think I did a large octopus, 5 keyrings and started a scarf. I've finished the scarf now - it's green and brown. Stripy.

On Sunday evening my brother and I went to see Russell Brand at the Royal Albert Hall, London. We'd got ticket about a month ago and had been really looking forward to going. I love Russell Brand, he's so funny! Our Mum and Dad took us up to London in the car so we wouldn't have to get the train (Thank God...). They dropped us off outside the hall and they went off and parked by the Embankment and had a wonder round until the gig had finished. They ended up getting a bloody parking fine...

Before the show my brother and I managed to sneak into the hall itself before anyone else was in there lol. We're getting good at sneaking around undetected! Nothing was happening, just people setting up the lights and stuff. The gig itself was fab! Russell's a very funny man. We'd been to see him before, earlier this year at the 02 Arena. That was great too. It was basically the same show, with little bits different here and there. It finished at about 10:15pm, we found our Mum and Dad and went home. After stopping off at McDonalds first as we were hungry..

When we got home at about 11:30pm I walked past my pet hamster Nora's cage, and she was laying on top of her bed. I sat there for ages and she didn't move. Turned out she'd died. I couldn't believe it - we've only had her for about a year. Such a shock, and a horrible way to end what had been a fab day. We're gonna bury her in the garden tomorrow morning. One of my other pets died last week - my goldfish Frankie. Seems like all my pets are dying on me, I hope Kryten the fish will be ok.

So it was a sort of half/half weekend. The good was very good and the bad was very bad :(

Etsy Friday

A bit of a change to Etsy Friday - I'm running out of fav sellers to feature so I'm just gonna list 3 items from Etsy I like instead lol! Pink is the theme this week! Enjoy!

Gloomy Bear shoes! I love that violent little bear so much! Made from a pretty pink colour velvet, with black rubber soles. This pair are a size US 6 - about a UK size 3.5 - 4, which means they'd fit my tiny feet! YAY! I may have to get these...

Shop: Em & Sprout

I love this cute little pink ninja! Made from polymer clay, he measures just 3cm's (1.25'') tall! He even comes with his very own nunchucks! How cute! I can imagine a whole army of these sitting on my desk!

Listing: Little Hot Pink Ninja Companion
Shop: Lilley's Handcrafted Lovelies

This fabric covered ring is so sweet! It measures about 2.8cm's (1 1/8th), and is ajustable so it'll fit anyone. I love the little music note! Kawaii!

Pink Jellyfish: A Work In Progress

I've been asked to do another craft fair this Christmas! So I need more 'stock'. Que crazy fast crocheting, including this Jellyfish made from my Jacob The Jellyfish pattern!

I start, as always, with the main body/head of the toy. I chose bright pink for this one. Nice!

This is the head/body, the bottom of the body and the hanging loop finished. I like to use 2 different colours for my jellyfish and thought these 2 pinks worked well together.

Starting to make the 1st of 4 big tentacles (are they called tentacles on jellyfish?! Stingers?!!) . It's basically just a chain with lots of DC's into each chain stitch.

Big tentacles done, time for the smaller ones. These little guys need a bit of help curling up, so I wind them round a pencil/pen.

All the jellyfish parts done! Time for the sewing. There's quite alot...

All the tentacles sewn on to the bottom of the body. I arrange them in a kind of 3-9-6-12 pattern to make them even.

With the bottom of the body sewn on, she's finished! Took a couple of hours - most of that was the sewing lol! Anyone got a name?!

I've made 6 jellyfish in all, 3 for Brentwood and 3 for the other show I've been asked to do. Yep, they ASKED me to do it lol! I hope they're not dissapointed with my stuff! More WIP's to come, as I'm making things all the time for the fairs. My amigurumi army is growing...

Facebook

No 'Best Of' this week, I didn't have time to look round. Instead...

Back in February I signed up for a Facbook account so I could have a fan page for my Etsy Shop. I had no intention on actually using it, it was just something to have.

Yesterday however I decided to see if there was anyone I used to go to school with on there. I found nearly everyone lol! I haven't seen these people since I left secondary school in 2001, and some of them since primary school in 1996. A long time. I started adding people as friends. I wasn't sure if anyone would remember me but they soon started getting back to me.

It's really weird to talk to and see pictures of people you used to be childhood friends with, especially if you haven't seen them in years. I didn't have a great time at school, it definitely wasn't the 'happiest years of my life' as people say, but it's nice to see people again anyway.

If anyone wants to add me as a friend of Facebook feel free - I'm very friendly! My name on there is Sarah Hearn, my profile page is www.facebook.com/esshaych.
